Who are We?
AAMN also known as the American Assembly for Men in Nursing is a national organization which seeks to provide a forum in which men can discuss issues that affect men as nurses. According to aamn.org/aamn their objectives include:
- Encourage men of all ages to become nurses and join together with all nurses in strengthening and humanizing health care.
- Support men who are nurses to grow professionally and demonstrate to each other and to society the increasing contributions being made by men within the nursing profession.
- Advocate for continued research, education and dissemination of information about men's health issues, men in nursing, and nursing knowledge at the local and national levels.
- Support members' full participation in the nursing profession and it's organizations and use this Assembly for the limited objectives stated above.
Within our specific chapter at the University of South Carolina, Men in Nursing offers:
|
|
For those in Upper Division:
This initiative will guarantee you a leadership position which can be noted on your resume. The opportunity to mentor symbolizes that you care about the success of others because you, yourself are successful and are a leader. |
For those in Lower Division:
As a mentee, you’ll be provided a mentor from the Upper Division of whom you can seek guidance on how to be a successful student within the College of Nursing. Your mentor can provide you a surplus of ways to build your resume through the brochure that has been provided to them. Feel free to ask you mentor about these opportunities to build your resume through community service, joining other medical themed student organizations at USC, and of course how to take advantage of volunteer opportunities at local hospitals. |
We'd like to welcome you to Men in Nursing at the University of South Carolina, where at the College of Nursing our compassion for others has no limits.
